Not my best decision, took my Sport out on Saturday for a quick spin in sub zero, sunny temperatures, noticed the tyres felt a bit soft so stopped at my local tyre shop to pump them up (as petrol station pumps have an attachment that doesnt fit on bikes with spoked wheels). Pulled away across the gravel car park, low throttle, 1st gear, ice, spin, back end steps out, down she goes.... Bollocks.

I deliberately left my right leg under the bike to give it something soft to land on, picked it up, swearing like a navvy.... Lost some skin but that heals.

Sum total of damage, Bar end mirror smashed, scuff on RH pipe at the joint, snapped end off foot brake lever which is just a bolt. No damage to paint or plastic at all. Got off v lightly.

Lesson: Don't be a twat and keep the thing in the garage you moron.

Wow. Sorry to hear that, man. Sacrificed the leg for the bike. Tough bloke. Real biker. Could have been worse. Glad your ok and last and yes.....least...glad your bike is ok too. Hope your skin grows back quickly.

It took so long to go down I had time to make a conscious decision to keep my leg under, ive never been noted for my brains.... :D

big thumbs up for saving the paint :)

what pipe do you have on yours? I have a brand new RH long loud pipe sitting in my garage if you're interested. I had a guy nudge me on a track evening, he dented my LH silencer and paid me for a new one. Norton messed up with knowing their left and right sides so hence I now have a spare RH.

OK, I will also admit a drop. No ice for me, just poorly planned U-turn. Fell on the left side and also sacrificed my body to protect the 961. Scuff on the left pipe, and broke the ball of the clutch lever, no other damage. Sore knee for a couple of days.

Now I have to see if I can buy a clutch lever, and how long it will take to get here (afraid to ask for the price)

I must be hanging out with the right people. I too can admit to sacrificing my body to protect my bikes. I have a show quality Triton that I had been working on and tried kicking it over to check spark while on the kickstand (I now know that's stupid). Kickstand broke mid-swing and started a slow fall to the left, headed toward my 850 Commando. Had the "presence of mind" while falling over in slowmo to realize that if the two bikes came in contact much damage would be done, so I proceeded to hold on to the grips while falling over. Took the fixed foot peg on the Commando into my ribs and broke ribs, but ribs heal. No damage to the bikes with me as a cushion, other than a dent in the underside of the Triton exhaust where the kickstand rotated.

Norton owners, prepared to bleed for our bikes, either that or we are all really, really dumb....

My parts are on order, new RH exhaust courtesy of Der, mirror courtesy of Halcyon, small 6mm stainless bolt courtesy of my garage, soon to be good as new.
