For many years I dreamt of the IoM Mountain course. After done a couple of laps, I found out a couple of things. It has lovely surroundings. You have to go slow to appreciate it fully. 30 Mph on the Snaefell Mountain is insanely fast when you're in the clouds. Some parts are very bumpy. As an experienced racer explained. You have to steer in the bends with your knees as the front wheel is rarely on the ground. At 130 Mph! Now I understand how good the racers are.

The dempster hwy, from Dawson city to Inuvik. My Dad worked to build Inuvik city in 1958. i was there 50 yrs later. 800km of gravel.

Back in 2009 we went to a Norton rally in Mancos, Colorado. After riding on the roads here I knew this is where I wanted to retire, the roads are awesome and well taken care of. One of the rides we went on was a loop that went from Mancos to Durango up over two passes, Coal bank pass 10610 ft, Molas pass 10,910 ft. to Silverton then over Red mountain pass 11,014 ft. down to Ouray on to Ridgeway and back up by Telluride to Lizard Head pass 10,222 and then down to Rico, Delores and back to Mancos. 200 miles or so, well here we are retired 2 years now and these roads are still a blast to ride, a couple weeks ago did that same loop. What was great is there was no traffic (covid 19) and the conditions could not have been better, I really love these roads. I just need to grow up.

Growing up is like getting old and retiring, a bit overrated!

Riding from the bottom tip of Norway to the top and back in 2 weeks in August 2002 was unforgettable. I was only there, in the south, for the Euro Owners Rally, so made the most of it. Roads are very well surfaced, and very little traffic, especially travelling late afternoon/early evening . Near the northern tip there are no trees, just wandering reindeer and golden eagles, saw both, and then a several mile long tunnel under the sea to reach the Cape( good sound reflecting back!!)
On return journey, diverted via two ferries to ride the length of the Lofoten islands, seeing the salt cod drying in the sun, and waterside red houses on stilts along the sea edges.
Then, a lot further south, going down a fiord side, along on a ferry, and up the other side all as part of the day’s ride.

I would LOVE to transport my Commando to Europe to ride southern France, Spain or Italy. I would be happy just sitting in a small town cafe drinking espresso and posing. It would take much planning, money, time, tools and a like-minded friend so I’m not sure it will ever happen. What is your dream bikation ( I think I made up a new word)? Isle of Man is an easy pick. Continental Divide on a dual sport is a definite pick.
Isle of Man for me, or that awesome road in the Alps that Ludwig posts photos of sometimes.

But in the spirit of "Love the one you're with", you and I are both within a day's ride of the mighty Kang - the Kancamagus highway between Lincoln and Conway NH. Every New England biker should experience that ride.

Watch out for the hairpin... and the moose.

Hi all, I like riding in Alsace, France. It is right on my doorstep, lots of great roads, pretty quiet and beautiful scenery.
Day off today, took my first ride out since the border reopened a couple of weeks ago. I went to Hartmannswillerkopf in the Vosges, coffee at the summit restaurant Grand Ballon elevation 1424m then back down. Fantastic fun on the Norton, even though I keep more or less to speed limits since last year‘s 3‘600 CHF speeding fine debacle. Don‘t want any more of that, thank you!

Have a great day, Martin
