Hey anyone know what the stock/standard rear shock length for a Dominator 99 is - friend just got one (nice!) but it is a bit unstable on the center stand - i suspect the stocks are to long

thx!
Mike

11.9" (1961-on) according an original Girling catalogue.

Hello
Just for your imformation I also have a dommie 99 but a wideline with 13 inch shocks,my bike also has a main stand that seems too short,ie when on stand on flat ground both wheels arte still on the ground, which makes it unstable on any uneven surface. The side stand(a reproduction ) has bike at what I think is too vertical an angle hence making me feel uneasy about leaving it on side stand

Hi
The wideline frames should have 11.9 (295mm) rear shocks the Commandos have 13" (325mm), as I am running commando frontend and rear shocks on my Widline frame but when I got the frame it had the shorter rear shocks as the orginal Featerbed frame with the Roadholder frontend is 1" shorter than Commando frontend and my Slimline has the 11.9" as well.

According to my copy of the Girling catalogue, '57-'60 (therefore Wideline) shock length is listed as 12.9", and 11.9" (Slimline) for '61-'62-on, although of course the Slimline frame was actually introduced on the 1960 models.

thx men - yes its a 1960 with a slimeline frame - 13" shocks are currently fitted

but damn fun to drive regardless of the shock length!
