If you trap rust under a coat of varnish or powdercoat then you are trapping whatever moisture is in the rust as rust is not solid but porus, that moisture is going to carry on making more rust. Some fashions are just plain dumb and best avoided.

 

Wow. An intentional patina. Ride to the beach everyday to increase its value.

 

I spoke to CCM at the Excel show yesterday about their clear coated frames: said it took them quite a time to get process sorted: chemical clean, overnight phosphate dip, and powder coating. He also mentioned their are industry standards to meet.....and they have done salt testing etc.....
