Ill get out Rons info and compare, I did jot it all down on a Vetrinary maintenance log I have for him.
I got him as a six week old pup. The mother was 1/2 Bernese Mouzntain Dog and 1/2 German Shepherd. Berners in North America are smaller than the original Swiss dog, maybe 100 pounds average for a male (north american type). German Shepherd males average around 75 pounds,so not giant dogs.
The mother got off her property and was bred by an unknown dog. The seller thought that the neighbours Golden retriever was probably the sire. I think not! So the price was reasonable, $200, cheap compared to most pup prices.
Anyway, as soon as I got my bargain dog home I took him to the vet for a lookover. He weighed in at 22 pounds, the most the Vet had ever seen for a six week old. I started tracking his weight gain and compared it to the worlds largest dog, an English Mastiff, which weighed about 280 pounds and looked a lot like Ron. Up until about six months age he actually ouweighed the worlds largest dog at same age!
Fortunately he stopped growing (we think he has) at 184 lbs.
I recall that his six month weight was 106lbs and one year was 144.
Of interest, he has three brothers, all look like him but weigh 80 to 90 lbs.
