I'm getting black dust on the disc caliper and fork slider on my 74 850 that I never had before. Can this be a consequence of using particular brake pads? I installed EBC pads a couple years ago, never used them before. Does one type of pad make more dust than another?

It's ugly and hard to clean.

Hy maylar

I run EBC pads on my Mk3 with ground original discs and i have great brakes and very little dust. But confess to be a constant polisher so never gets time to be dusty.

I use the EBC and Ferodo Platinum Pads and find they work great but like you discovered, they leave a dark dust on the underside of the caliper and backside of the fork slider. I use brake cleaner to get the bulk of the dust off and I like cleaning my bike with S100 Total Cycle Cleaner when I get around to washing my bike. What is important though, is that you have good brakes.
Cheers,
Thomas
