Is there some difference in the cradle or center stand? discount the '69 and '75. I swapped out the cradle on a combat and now I have about 2" of daylight under the rear wheel whilst on the centerstand. The centerstand came off the combat.
The original cradle had a bad bend in it and the centerstand holes were wallowed out so the whole bike leaned badly to the right. I had a spare cradle and since I was installing new isos and replacing the swing arm spindle it was an easy swap. Is this an instance of frying pan - fire problem?

IIRC
Significant difference between early and late pivot hardware. Early ones wear out and get sloppy. Later hardware holds centerstand/bike up better.
06-3146 vs 06-4060: Early cradle should always be updated

The center stand stops against the cradle. Does the one you replaced have notches from the steel stop blocks on the stand? When worn the stand goes farther past center leaving the rear wheel lower.

The old cradle did have fairly deep and uneven notches...AND I added weld to the centerstand where it was rorn away. That should account for the "extra" height.

I used a 74 cradle and center stand on my 71 to get the oil filter mount holes and heavier made stand. Fits with no issues. Doesn't seem the rear wheel is abnormally high.
