Cycle World Magazine

My bike was just retrofit with upgraded valve covers from Norton. Its a redirected air and oil flow. I never did have a saturated air filter. 4400 mi. and it looks like new.

The thing that caught my eye in the Cycle World article was the weight -490 without fuel. The manufacturer's claim is 415 dry, so that's quite a fib! I can't imagine Cycle World having an misguided scale but I do know manufacturers fib about weight.
I once went out with a girl who was just like the Norton, great looking and curvaceous but much heftier than the waif like number she claimed for her weight. Not that I was complaining!

Norton have posted more realistic dry weights that I have seen ~ 454 lbs. I was also surprised to see the 519 fully gassed because the bike carries its weight low and I couldn't sense the weight. When I lean it over in the garage I am still impressed with how light it feels . I also think that my bike makes a good highway cruising bike , a real mile muncher . The weight must help this I think. When Simon Skinner said they wanted to make it robust he wasn't kidding.

A certain amount of weight does tend to smooth out the ride on patchy pavement, for sure.

If I do end up with a 961 at some future date, I will name it Linda. :D

As much as you are on this site , I would say ownership may be inevitable.

I read the Cycle World review a couple of days ago when the magazine showed up in my mailbox.

Just saying.... ALthough I love my Mark 3, i have to say, if i was going to drop $20K, i would opt for the XDiavel long before the 961

I think its pretty safe to say you're not going to drop 20k on any bike soon!!!

OUCH , But Bravo ! When I read this I couldn't stop laughing ....
