Hi.
Wich bearing do you use as an alternative to the FAG NJ306EM1C3 cranckshaft bearing?

Hi.
What changes with polyamide cage and not brass?
I found this in a very interesting document on the "Superblend" bearings. Would be interesting to hear if anyone have tried these bearings.
Crankshaft bearing alternative to the Fag

Here is the full document: ( It´s a lot of information but absolutely worth the time reading it through.)

On a side note the bearings in my 850 was composed of a NU outer race with a NJ inner race, which seems to be an ok mix.

NJ306E bearings can have an NU-marked outer race as NJ-NU outer races are identical.

Brass has a higher temperature rating than polymide, so the risk is the hot oil distorting a polymide cage and the bearing failing if the rollers break loose. I have fitted polymide caged roller bearing mains to a B44 engine and not had any issues in 5 years, but ask me in another 5 years and then I can tell you if it has worked or not.

I've had a polymide bearing on the drive side of my BSA A10 for over 25 years now with no issues and I did badly overheat it on one occasion
Cheers

In our local club we have used 4 sets of these:
NTN NJ306EG1C3 = brass cage
NTN Japan/Bower USA
Offered on ebay, sold out off their New York distributor. Around $60 ea
NTN/Bower

From their site, found this interesting in their history page

Important "firsts" in cylindrical and tapered roller bearings include:
  • Honing of raceways
  • Spherical roller heads for tapered roller bearings
  • Crowned cylindrical and tapered rollers
  • Cold-formed tapered roller bearing rings
  • Electron beam welded one-piece steel cages for cylindrical roller bearings
  • Two piece, ultrasonically joined Fibron cages for cylindrical roller bearings
  • Hot forged powder metal bearing components
  • Hot pressed silicon nitride cylindrical roller bearings
  • Signature bearings

ebay reports:
"A seller you've bought from"
These must be the distributor. The ebay pix is wrong however. The price is up a little bit from when I bought them. It is possible they will not export!
