One time 1200$ check. Equal to 1 months pay at federal minimum wage of 7.50/hr.

Sounds unlivable right? That's because federal minimum wage is UNLIVABLE.

Those on unemployment will receive an extra $600 per week. THIS is what will sustain people. Republicans argued that the unemployed don't deserve it.

When unemployed workers are given money to sustain themselves that means there is less money to give executives and stockholders. A Republican’s idea of capitalism is to lavish praise and money upon the already wealthy, but denigrate and shit on the less than wealthy.

Subsidising farmers to employ people during the epidemic might be good for the economy. But we would have to abolish piece rates and provide free beer and banjo lessons for the workers.

In Australia, the rural sector has the worst safety record of any industry. Who picks up the tab ?

The two faces of journalism: Last week the shelves were bare due to the public: 'panic buying' and 'hoarding' Today, retail sales have reached record highs due to the public: 'rushing to stock up on vital supplies'....

Hardship creates character, and what does not kill you, makes you stronger. Coronavirus is dramatically changing peoples' thinking. In Australia the Shooters' and Fishers' Party are complaining about what they see as defamation. Our government has legislated to restrict the sale of guns and ammunition because of a current spike in sales. It hass been pointed out that nobody should be out and about shooting game. when they should be social isolating. - Guns and paranoia - who does that ?

In Australia, one of the good things which has come out of coronavirus, is the vindication of the Conservatives' economic policies. If we had spent to more money to more greatly develop Australia and make more money, our government might not be able to afford their current stimulus which is intended to minimise the bad effects of coronavirus on the economy.

In my opinion the behaviour of the media in this current situation makes a bloody good case for censorship !!

Freedom of speech is one thing. But when you are in the business of MASS information, it should come with some duties of care attached to it.

It has to be wrong to be able to blurt out ANY headlines you want, cause miss information and panic, and simply fall back on the defence ‘freedom of speech’.

It’s just not funny anymore...

Anyone with half measure of common sense can’t help but to see humour in some of what has been released as news lately .... the daily body count has become so blah , it reminds me of the so called news coming out of Nam back in the day .... we all been exposed to a repeating cycle of same story , difficult way to sell “news” ..... other than pandemic no thing to report on .... here big news today is “sport fishing season” has been postponed for at least a month , petition up and collecting names already , a solitary exercise mostly , until dusk when fishers gather in camps , drink and spin yarns , no wonder they upset could’ve been doing this daily as no work ....

The media is not manufacturing information. Trump is a fountain of lies, misinformation and alternative facts. As for censorship, Trump should be censored.

Trouble is, cocooned as we are, for most these clowns are the only source of information we have. And whilst I rail against the whole: 'conspiracy' lark, it's easy to find evidence those that do could use.
Yesterday the news in the UK was all positive, as if to lift our spirits, today it's back to doom and gloom.. almost as if big brother reminded those feeding us information not to let us get too excited.
From my personal situation in semi-rural UK it's very much like the 1939 'phony war'... air raid sirens aplenty and much digging of shelters but not a single gunshot yet. None of my friends have so much as a cold, so I may be tempting fate there (sorry people). I don't deny it's existence, but the reporting makes me question at times the validity of the 'facts' on offer...

Both sides of the pond might benefit from turning their television sets OFF.

Limit your news consumption to an hour a day from a reliable source.

Television? Not seen one of them in over 20 years! '..a reliable source'?? Sadly in the UK even our state owned broadcaster has been shown to have way too much bias after recent Brexit and Election shenanigans...

I listen to a daily broadcast given by our Premier and the doc in charge of public health .... it a statement no questions ... sometimes a similar team from other Atlantic Province joins in ... that enough news to keep me teetering on that line continuously .... Sat. met my Son for an exchange , ended up with 3 more mags for 22lr ... stuff like that long gone from any shops/stores .... got Hunter S. Thompson first book on-loan through Vintagent site and reading it , things almost as crazy back in ‘66 with the Angels .... least it gives a laugh occasionally ...

Not for me to say, especially in the UK.

It is up to you and your common sense to decide what and who to believe.

There is bias in all news sources. It is your responsibility to think critically and come to an informed conclusion using your own intellect.

They should use that like the health warnings on cigarette packets :)

Thinking on, though.. you're suggesting some semblance of personal responsibility.... that went out the door years ago!
