Gents, as far as I could see mine was the only 961 circulating around Mallory Park at last years Festival of 1000 Bikes.

Last time I checked, there were still track places left at this years event.

Anyone fancy joining me?

If you don’t fancy venturing out into the track it’s still a good weekend out for a bike fan.

If anyone’s going do come and say hello, I’ll be down in the race paddock with my blue ‘74 and the 961.

This years event is 13th / 14th July.

I wish, I've not heard anything about V4RR production for a long time.
If the Commando is fixed I will try and make it to Mallory.
Did you read Alan Cathcarts road test recently? He talked about how they were in full flow with V4 prod ...

Well, under the ‘home grown power’ headline below note that Cathcart was told that all 200 SS bikes would be built buy June.

And... afterwards Norton expect to build 300 RR bikes in 2019. Maths ain’t my strong suit, but even I can work out that 300 bikes in 6 months is 50 bikes per month.

Sorry to sound cynical Gents, but if Norton can build 50 V4s per month (11-12 PER WEEK)... as well as continue with Commando production... AND launch the Atlas range... all in the 2nd half of this year... I’ll eat my Shoei ...!

Anyway, on a positive note y’all should buy the mag because the road test was EXTREMELY POSITIVE and Mr Cathcart is one of the best bike journalists out there and not just some easily overawed 12 year old.

Doesn't Norton have a whole separate production facility for the 650 units?
I suppose also with a separate production staff as well.

Maybe there's more to this story than we, the public are aware off?

Yes they do, but it still needs building, equipment needs installing, then snagging, the the product needs ramping up, people need hiring, people need training, problems need solving, parts need buying, supplier issues need resolving, engineering changes need designing-productionising-executing, etc, etc, etc.

Automotive companies that have been building cars for over 100 years STILL struggle with this.

It all soaks up a lot resources.
