That can work if you always stick close to home, never more than half a tank from the race-gas can.

95 Ron is roughly 89 octane or midgrade in North America, not too hard to find most places.
I have been on some lonely old highways where it's many miles between fuel stops and all they have on offer is regular. So it's handy to have a bike that won't self destruct on reg. fuel.

I try to use ethanol free which is fairly easy to find in Western Canada and Western USA. It's often higher in Octane than needed.
Final couple of fillups for the year I make sure each bike gets Chevron Supreme ethanol free. It's 94 Octane, again not really needed by my little herd, but having ethanol free fuel in the carbs for the winter sit is important. The fuel injected bikes get it too, sitting with E10 in place can't be good for them either.

Looking thru the Sunoco links Voodoo provided, Ethanol has made its way into race gas too. The 100 Octane stuff lists 9.8% Ethanol content.

I store my old Triumph with 110 octane ethanol free fuel at 10 bucks per gallon. 30 dollar fillup. Runs like a raped ape. Blew my head gasket. Now I know. Take it easy.

It’s around $7.50-$8.00 a gallon I believe for super unleaded. So actually not as bad as it was.
Premium or 93 Octane here in NY....is about 2.89 give or take 20 cents. (roughly 2.5 pounds?)
What I've noticed in England when I went, although the pound is worth more, most grocery items like milk, eggs and bread and such cost less. We in the US play a game.....charge too much, put it on sale and you think you are getting a bargain. The British are straight up. This is what it is. Organic milk here is almost 10 bucks per gallon. Effed with milk is a little less than half that. Then again, what most of the world doesn't know is, we drill and consume most of our own oil. Most of what is imported is right over the border in Canada. Probably 20% or less is from the middle east and Venezuela.

I’ve never bought a gallon of milk!

We do things smaller you know.

2 litres is the biggest milk carton I buy, so that’s less than half a gallon. Costs anround £1.50 I think.
I don’t buy milk either, but at £1.50 per 2 liters that’s about $1.99 per 2 liters or 1/2 gallon here. So about the same.

£1.50 is equal to $1.99 USD.

.....
Then again, what most of the world doesn't know is, we drill and consume most of our own oil.

In Canada we produce about 2.5 times our consumption, but still pay about 30% more than US prices for gas.
Last year we shipped 3.3 million barrels per day to the US and consumed 2.5 million per day at home.
The EIA says the US produced 10.8 mm bbls day and consumed 20.5 mm bbls per day.

I guess it's down to taxes, which I don't really mind. The medical system is pretty decent and has to be paid for somehow.

I think the high cost of fuel in the UK has created a least one benefit. British bikes tend to be very fuel efficient compared with a lot of other bikes. This really increases the range.
