Commando 961 production

The above from Richard-7 seems to be true for the last *two* digits of Swiss imports of 961s as well...

All original SE's had standard forks and Gold line Axial calipers, sometime in 2014 they switched to the black steel headlamp shell. So all Commandos started coming with the black headlamp. If Se's are still made they must have the USD forks now. Maybe now , no more SE model ? You just have to upgrade your own bike when you order it ..

Just the headlamp shell , I think his bike had USD forks from the factory. His was a Canadian bike , its hard to keep track of when and why. I don't think you will be seeing any more SE's with RWU forks and axial brakes at least not new from Norton. By the way you still haven't posted a picture of your bike , maybe I should stop talking to you until you do ...

Wow!
That's rather rude!

OH c'mon Voodooo , Don't take it that way dude ,. Just having a little fun . I 've got an idea for you , post both the Shelby and Norton pictures side by side ! That ought to be nice.

ALL 20 CDN SE bikes have USD forks. ALL 20 SE's in Canada are fully loaded. They start at 100 - 119 and all Include full Carbon package, Leather Seat, Polished engine covers, frame serial number matches SE#, Black and gold paint, Standard bars, Goldline brakes. Because of the LONG wait times, the SE's only come in drips and drabs, meaning a few per year. The last came in 2016 and none in 2015. There is one 2016 SE MKII available for sale in Canada left on the books, if interested you can email Norton Canada to find out its status. My dads SE#107 is one of only two CDN SE's that have a dual seat and the only 961 Commando in Canada with an aluminum tank. And Tony is correct, I replaced my Headlight with the newer all black style. And go back and forth between clip-ons.

Here is what a CDN SE looks like With Short exhaust (before I swapped headlight and clip-ons)

What are the differences between the SE listed above and a SF? I didn't think the SE was available in 2016.

SF has USD forks and carbon front fender and polised engine covers. At least I think this is the case. SE is full carbon, every option like leather seat and such and exclusive frame number match SE#

Basically, if you don't care about the frame number you could order an SF with Carbon package and leather seat and essentially its the same bike.

Read my comment previous for reason of a 2016 SE. To keep it fair, SE's in Canada was spread out. So that SE I posted is pretty damn special.

Probaly less then 5 SE mark II in the world.i know of three and all three in Canada. One for sale. I posted above.

Just purchased 2016 serial number 5244 Haven't picked it up maybe next month for production date. guessing January or February 16

Good for you ! Can you tell us where , what dealer , just curious . The 2016 was the first year of the MK2 production and good running bikes .

I bought it private in Colorado 53 miles total. Owner thinks it came from Michigan apparently there was a middle man for purchase. A jeweler had purchased the bike and left it in the crate. Some where it came out of the crate before it was delivered to Colorado, no part of the crate was saved, dumbass! Not knowing much about these newer Nortons I wonder if it didn't come from Canada. Be nice if someone found the shipping records and cut loose the production facts, but I guess to much money is involved

I’m in Michigan and I’m curious if this is the same bike that was in Detroit. I seen one at a private business/collection last spring

Picked up my 961 Friday. Had my first ride today, just around the block. Waiting for tags. Walked out an hour later and was greeted by a familiar sight, Small oil leak from a breather tube! Haven't read on the forum about the side stand being long, but this bike stands up pretty straight when using it, might cut a 1/4 inch out of it and reweld.Commando 961 productionCommando 961 production

Norton originally used 219mm side stand.
Then due to complaints, shortened it to 209.
I have one of the shorter units.
