The parts list shows two size length of cable for my 1970S 750 ,
51 inch and 56 inch, I am looking at having a spare so can anyone tell me which is correct without me having to take the existing one off to get an accurate measurement,
As always thanks to the forum members for their invaluable assistance

Cheers
Rob

It depends on your handlebars - low, drag bars, clubman bars or clip-ons = short cable; mid-rise, high-rise or very wide touring bars = long cable.

Ah,, To be honest i didnt even think of that. Original bars on bike so i am thinking it would be the shorter cable ,Thanks

But the 'S' models didn't normally have what could be described as 'low' bars?

I think you really should make a decision based on measuring what is already fitted?
As the cable you will probably need is very likely to be the longer one?
But I think that you are the one who needs to make the decision? Time to get the measure out, I think?

Early Commandos with the steel levers generally take the 51 inch clutch cable ('68-70) while late Commando with the alloy levers use the 57 inch cable with US bars and the 51 inch with Euro spec bars. Of course the Hi-rider bars took a 60-61 inch cable.
