Hi,

My hydraulic front brake light switch on my 1973 850 has stopped working. Before I replace it I was thinking about trying to blow it out with compressed air. Has anyone else had any success with this?

Thanks ,
Eric

yes , I have had some luck with flushing them out, and using compressed air, you can also check continuity while using the air pressure .

Probably not worth the time to try it. Those switches have tiny contacts in them that can burn out over time, also they are pressure regulated . If you can see blockage in the switch try using some brake cleaner on it to see if you can remove any crud. Other than that I would just get a new one.

Assuming you mean the hydraulic brake switch.

These switches usually have a diaphragm between the fluid and the electrics.......

... occasionally the drilling can become blocked but don't attempt to clean it with anything sharp as it could puncture the diaphragm. If the contacts have worn out or the diaphragm has failed then nothing much can be done other than replace the switch.

I gave up on the cable switch, got my buddy to make up a new cable without switch, and then glued a micro switch under the brake lever support bracket, small self tapper in lever around 3 threads plus glue and hey presto, can't even see it.

Oops just checked post, it's the hydraulic front brake switch, apologies.
