It rained all day Christmas Eve and last nite so the roads were clear and the thermometer was pushing fifty. I wanted to drain all the old gas out of the Norton anyway before the real winter hits, riding it dry seemed like a much better idea! I took it to my favorite set of twisties and did a short ride of about 35 minutes. I do not understand my gas situation though, its been 182 miles since I filled up at the pump! I did put in a splash of 104 octane, it must have been a bigger splash then I thought. I was thinking my gas light must have died?

Anyway the Norton ran perfect and the traffic was lite, just a touch of sand on the road in a few spots but it didn't bother me. I was worried about the cold temp and tires but the Norton handled it like it was still summer. I am glad I went!

When I got back a Harley friend came over so the Harley got a short workout too, it was cooling off by then, but all in all a great Christmas!

Sounds good. Watch those cold rodes. My rear slipped out a bit in 30 temps. Gotta warm up those tires. (tyres?) Going to hit 48 today and 50 tomorrow. I might light her up to check out my new Schott Cafe Racer leather jacket the Mrs. bought me for Christmas. :D

Don't forget to charge the battery! :D

Have it on a trickle charger. Took that ride on some nice North Shore twisties to Bayville on the Long Island Sound. Very nice ride. She ran like a champ. Just sometimes, I downshift at a light and it doesn't seem to bottom out to first. The shifter clicks and clicks and wind up pulling away at a higher gear. Its a minor annoyance and its not constant.

Might fire up the old Bonny today.

Well, 2 days after Christmas ride. My friend Stan and I took the 961 and his 73 modified Fastback (one owner bike, with over 200K miles)

79 degrees and blue skies. Rode A1A (the coast road) up to Amelia Island. Bike is now broken in, new SB pipes, but no remap yet.

Decided it was time to "Ton Up" the 961. Solid as a rock. Long, right hand sweeper near Fort George Island. Took it at about 105 MPH, the 961 felt like it was on a set of rails. Stan was right behind me "Tonning" the 73.

Every ride on this bike is getting exponentially more fun.

^^ double cool ^^ Wish it was 79 up here. 105 on the 961? I'm wondering if she scoffed and asked if thats all ya got? 8) You aint seen nuthin' yet.

The 961 is not a bike that begs for a steering damper or other aids! It is rock solid unless you get really stupid with the fully adjustable suspension at both ends. Being a retro bike I wasn't expecting decent handling. Sometimes it's nice to be wrong . :D
