Found a 1 1/2" x 1 1/8 box end spanner at WallyMarty today $11 including tax. Made by Reese for the hitch balls. Usually don't go in there except for carb cleaner and oil. Fits on the sump a treat.

Cheap sump/sprocket spanner

$6.99

Jeez, you overpaid for that one.

Yea, but I didn't have to pay $10 shipping and the trip was planned anyhow. Nearest HF from me is about 80 miles.

Got mine nearly 5 years ago at Pep Boys for about $7 when I worked on my first Norton.

Hmmm. I'll be needing one of those asap. I assume MKIII sump is same size? So it is the 1 1/2" I'm after yeah?

No wonder Nortons don't reach high prices, we are all a bunch of cheapskates, I'm sure any Harley rider would only buy $napOn tools to work on their bikes

It's 1.675" . Maybe it's aftermarket? All I know is the wrench I have, that half way fits, is about 2 feet long and weighs a TON.

I think the early sump screens were 1-7/16 and the later ones were 1-1/2. There's a guy on eBay who sells a nice heavy multi-tool that fits the sump, tightens exhaust collars, and has drivers for the primary inspection caps all in one. The sump hex fits my brother's 750 but not my 850.

I have a Craftsman 1-1/2 that I bought for the main sprocket nut and it set me back $30. One big azz wrench.
