I finally got around to installing the solid state voltage regulator from British Cycle Supply in Nova Scotia. The tech there suggested it instead of the Zener diode/Lucas rectifier combo.

I haven't had any time because I couldn't help myself and purchased a Karmann
Ghia just like this one!

but, On Ethyl the Norton,
The charging system now gets 13.8 dc volts back to my battery at around 2400 rpm.

Tomorrow is gonna be sunny and I can go for a long and reliable ride - yay.

Thanks again.

A little Ghia like that one, except sadly beated and abused, got me out of many a high school senior year class. I was in the Ag Mechanic's class and the principal had one of those. Anytime he needed something fixed on it, he'd call over the school PA system for me to report to his office, then I could take my time and "fix it right".
