Chain Guards

Matt's guard is super. His asks a premium price which is okay but when I add shipping and HM charges this side of the pond it
gets somewhat stratospheric.

I’ve been using the early style on my ‘72 for years, it should easily fit your ‘74.

Chain guard was the first thing I took off. I’ve always thought the bike looked better without one

Onder, I have one of those for my MK111. I had to do a judicious bit of grinding near the suspension fitment tab to get it to sit correctly without fouling the swingarm. I suspect a CNW item will be purchased later.
I'll post a pic later of said mods to the early style chainguard.

Great...I queried RGM for fitment and the told me I'd have to sort that myself. Well they have the guards and I don't so not much help. The cheapest route is to get the standard piece from RGM and have it powdered black. Not perfect but vast savings.

Onder,
Here it is - included my standard MK111 chainguard for reference.

Lots of drilling/sawing/filing. Think I need another mm or two off where the hole is in front of the rear suspension mount.

Much clearer thank you. I note that mine is a Mk2 and has a deep cutout probably to access the hole for shoe wear(rubber bung). What I do see is the doubler on the forward mounting hole. My guard, which I believe to be factory original, has only a
small square doubler around the forward hole and it is along this line that the ear broke off. Stress city obviously.
The small hole forward of the rear shock mount area, what is that for?

I made the chainguard for the SS clone from alloy sheet. I just copied the chromed steel original.

Discs are stockers ground and drilled by DBR. I have the M/C sleeve from Madass and the brakes are still sketchy compared to modern brakes. I use both in conjunction with well-timed downshifts to haul it down from speed.

RGM do sell that guard with the cutout for the brake shoe inspection hole. I bought one from them about 18 months ago. It was good quality. At the time I could not find one on the Andover site.

Sometimes its described as a Mk11 A chainguard but it definitely is the same as the 1974 year constructed Mk 11s which were being built at exactly the same time as the Mk 11 A bikes. My Mk11 built in August 74 (319***) had that style guard as original.

I had to replace my original because of damage from a loose chain.
