Bug or feature? Brake and headlight too with key off

On my N15CS I'm pretty sure the rear brake light is supposed to work with the key off. It makes sense as a safety feature. But the other day my son noticed that if you leave the headlight switch on and pull the front brake with key off, the headlight comes on. Sorta odd but not causing problems.

Well, if it were my bike I would think there was something mis wired but OK in the headlight switch. Maybe some power for the front brake switch that is passing through the headlight switch in a wacky way. I'd run it down.

My front brake is a single circuit off the ignition switch, but my wiring is not conventional stock by any stretch of the imagination. My P11 is a prototype of a prototype. Mad science.

Yeah I will have a look, the wiring is so simple compared to my Suzuki, which gave me some challenges. It's doing any damage thankfully. I've got another issue to deal with, my speedo cable was routed badly, so I routed it in what I think is a better and less curvy way. But now it's not engaging, so no speedo. Spin with a drill from rear wheel end and it works fine, so it's not the speedo. Turn the wheel and it spins at the speedo end. I think it's the wrong cable, 69" vs 65" so I will replace. But it's frustrating to 'fix' something only to break it. I have a feel for the speed in each gear and my brain speedo is probably 95% accurate, but that upstairs instrument is prone to failure at any moment.

Only thing I can think of is the speedo cable may feel like it is screwed in all the way at both ends, but not actually be screwed in all the way. Also according to the internet if the cable end goes into the speedometer too far something odd happens. I don't remember what that is and have never had whatever it is happen to me. I busted the odometer on mine thinking it worked like most other odometers do. Pulled or pushed on the dial to reset it and killed it.

I have a small project I'd like to attack on my P11, but it is 26F degrees and dropping in my garage today. Not doing it.

Working upstairs instruments are way overrated, and frankly not much fun. :)

I believe originally N15 did not have a front brake switch.
Looking at wiring diagrams that appears correct and can explain the issue. I am using a master cylinder from a Yamaha Riva scooter. I bought it because it has a 12mm or ~1/2" bore. I looked for something compact with a brake switch and it works very well. I will examine the wiring to understand it. I remember being in a meeting once where a software engineer explained her error as an undocumented feature, with a straight face. I felt sorry for her as everyone laughed. But maybe that was her intent.
