I have finally had the time to attend to my 1967 BSA 441.
I have gotten it running and wanted to try my hand at making
a youtube video.

If you ain't got nothing better to do, click the link, give it a watch
and let me know what you think.

A very nice little project.. Makes me wish I had been able to see beyond big British twins when I was a kid.

You should really clean and polish that thing. Just kidding! You have really got it bad. I can't say enough about your wormanship and attention to detail. Hard to beleave that the fenders were in that good of condition. Very Nice.
We used to call them 441 Victims.

2 ways to reduce the valve clatter, reduce the clearances to virtually nil ie the pushrods turn freely but there is no clearance with the exhaust a bit more as per Rupert Ratio's book. Other trick is to block off the pressure release valve outlet and instead direct incoming oil to the rockers, this oil is cooler than the returning oil.

I haven't touched the BSA since I took the video,
but I'm pretty sure that I can quite down the clattering a bit by tightening up the valve clearances.
I'm a bit more concerned about the oil smoke.

UPDATE:
I put this bike up for sale on ebay.
Honestly...... I've been bitten by the salt racing bug. I want to give it a try and that costs money.
also, I'm getting a bit old to be thrashing around on a dirtbike.

It's a cool little bike, I think it will make a nice addition to someone's collection.

A friend of mine had a new Victor as a road bike in the 1960s. It was very nice and quite adequate for most purposes.

Ha, browsing thru the forum and I found this old thread, I completely forgot that I posted it here.
Well, here's an update.

The guy who bought the Victor from me last summer immediately took it out on the AHRMA Vintage MX circuit and won the Classic 500cc novice championship on it.

That's pretty cool!

He's racing it again this season - with the same spark plug in it.

That's VERY cool! I had 2 of them, stump-pullers.
