Does any one know if the shaft and gear on the Commando transmission cam plate can be sourced separately? After dismantling the transmission on the bike I am restoring I have found a broken tooth on the gear. It looks like the gear and shaft are pressed into the plate.
Thx

it is press together item. the parts are NOT sold separate but you could press them apart and re index the gear to an unused part and all is well.

Hi Drummer99

When I stripped mine I broke a tooth off my cam plate when I undid the bolt securing it.
new assembly £65

You need to wedge something in the box when you undo the bolt so the camp late is forced against the gearbox case and not the cam plate gear when you undo the bolt... Not mentioned in any manual I saw.... Well that's my excuse anyway...

As Bill said just turn it on the spline and use the other portion of the gear. All good. The quadrant only engages on about 2/3's of the teeth on the cam plate shaft so you can re-index so the broken tooth isn't used.

Less haste more speed :D

Cheers D

Guys thanks for the feedback that is exactly what I will do and advice or issues with how to press it out and did you index it 180 degrees
Thx

it is a simple drive it out with it supported next to the gear. you will need to reassemble it and see where the bad part is and re index it where it is out of the used part. just make sure you keep it on the same side of the quadrant. it can be done with simple tools like a soft drift of brass or aluminum , vice or deep socket to support the part and a hammer.
