brake and clutch levers

i seem to really have to stretch out my hands quite a bit to grab the levers...not so with any of my other but much newer bikes (a bmw, a harley and a bonnie) are there other levers available for my '70 cmdo?

Judging from the photos you provided, the levers does not appear to be a match to the brackets that atttach to the bar. If they were a matched pair, the angle would be decreased. In the meantime, sliding the levers closer to the grips will close up the gap, reducing your stretch. Course it will mean your leverage on the clutch and brake will decrease accordingly.

Finding the correct levers that mate to the bar mounted brackets you have now will be crazy making. There are too many makes, shapes, combinations etc. Find a source of quality replacements and buy two matched pairs.

I don't think that throttle cable is going to last long wound up tight around the handlebar like it is. :shock:

I agree, you need to re-arrange things on the bars to start. But if you do get new lever sets, make sure they are 7/8" from pivot to center of cable and they have the same range of pull, or you may be asking for trouble.

Or, fit some dog-leg levers if you aren't too bothered about originality, however, cables with different upper end fittings will probably be required.
