I dug into my box of ignition parts, found 5 boyer magnetic rotors, all deader than a stuffed mongoose. Go ahead and call me cheap but I would like to remove the old magnets and replace with new ones. Has anyone done this? It would require melting the existing glue and removing the two screws. Heat perhaps? Soak in epoxy remover? Replace with common magnets or the latest neodymium magnets? The neo magnets are brittle and may not drill and shape well.

I have removed them and fitted them to my own rotor before
I just undid the screws and pried them off
But I have never heard of them loosing their magnetism

I have a steel screwdriver, tested it with another magnet. The Boyers would not even hold their own weight.

Before you remove them most magnets are phased , I have no idea what they look like sorry , but just use another magnet , and obviously one end may attract or push away make sure they go in the same .

The magnets and screws are available from Boyer and I think are marked for correct orientation. They are quite easily removed, then use Araldite when replacing them ( as Boyer do). I asked them about neo magnets as well, but they advised against as they say the heat cycles make then lose magnetism too quickly.

I have one that lost magnetism on one side, Threw me for a loop. would only start with a real hot battery, and only sometimes.
