Rick, get the bike running and ride it. You have bikes for long distance riding, so making it the most reliable, dependable.all the newest upgrades included Norton in the world would be bank-breaking (that's BANK, not BACK) and silly at this point. You will know after you run it how much dinero you will want to put into it, because it really all depends on : A) how large your bank account is , as you stated your abilitiies are limited, so you will have to pay someone to do the work. B) what kind of riding you intend to do and where. C) how often you intend to ride it, as you already have 2 bikes. Excellant advice-buy a manual. Then, change all the fluids that your abilities allow. new tires, fresh gas, plugs, new battery CAUTION- positive ground system- give it a kick and see what happens, then let us all know happens.......

+1 here.
It's a hobby. You don't want to do it all at once. Spread it out. It's easy to get overwhelmed. Do what it takes to get it road worthy and the next step will avail itself to you. That I PROMISE. :)

These bikes are an assembly of assemblies. Looking at it in the light makes it easier to focus at the job at hand.

I don't see how you could possibly NOT get that bike running and ride it. That is even worse that going to a titty bar and not wanting to touch :)

"The bike is absolutely beautiful, and it sounds like you got a good deal on it. This just might be one of the finest and lowest mileage original unrestored Commando's in the world."

I agree. A bike this original comes along once every 100 lifetimes. I have never seen anything this good and original in 40 years of bikes. Except when they were brand new.

Hi Rick,
I just now saw your post. I too am a Norton owner near Cleveland (Concord Township, in Lake county). I currently own 3 Nortons & am happy to help any way I can. Send me an email directly at sbrolund@yahoo.com if you like.
Thanks,
Skip Brolund
