Is anyone else on the forum going to the BUB meet at Bonneville this week and/or the AHRMA vintage race at Miller Motorsports? I'll be spectating (for a change) at both. I'll be on the salt Wednesday and Thursday, and at he track at Miller Friday through Sunday. If you're there and feel like saying hi, my cell is 805-368-0335.

Hey Ken,

I won't be able to get out on the Salt for BUB but I'll be racing in the Bonneville Vintage GP at Miller Motorsports Park. :D The 750 Commando
is running great except for the Maney Exhaust that had a complete blow-out at Willow. I is being reconstructed and should be finished tomorrow.
Have not been able to keep the aluminum reverse can together. It also blew off at Willow and I have redesigned a new one out of stainless steel.
A little heavier but I can weld on directly instead of the pop-rivets or screws which do not seem to work. Look for me in the center GP garages
where AHRMA tech and registraion is located. Also check out the R75 Raffle Bike build-it is awesome! http://www.bonnevillevintagegp.com

Just returned from the races. We were at Bonneville Tuesday afternoon through Thursday. The salt was pretty good, although winds shut down the runs for a few hours here and there. We only found one Commando engined particiant, an ex-pat Swiss running a slim line featherbed street bike with a large Commando engine. It had a longer stroke Nourish crank, and big pistons. I think he said it was 960 cc, which is about right for the 91 mm stroke and 82 mm bore that some of the sidecars used to run. He said he bought the engine out of a sidecar outfit, and never took it apart. It ran a mild cam (2S) and small (32 mm) Mikunis, so wasn't really set up for the salt. His best run was 120 mph, as I recall.

Lots more Nortons at the Miller AHRMA race, with several Commando based racers, including forum member Tom Kullen. I didn't catch a lot of the results, but I know that Tom's bike ran really well, and he had some good rides.

Sorry for no pictures. I took my camera, but it died before I got a single shot.
