Best corrosion protection

Well 2 days ago I pulled off the cover after a winter- (start of ) sprayed with Corrosion Block from Amazon. www. corrisionblock.com . I used spray brake cleaner to both discs to get it off , super easy , no rust anywhere I sprayed it , just dry toweled it off and good to go in the sunshine, Pack of 3 spray cans was $ 60 to my door. Perfect spring drive with no rust anywhere. Happy.

Hmmm, OK, just looked at the amazon.co.uk buying option for a 500ml trigger bottle sent to France, £17.99 + £200.87 shipping!

(It didn't appear at all on amazon.fr)

And for a 400ml spray can price is OK but, 'Your selected delivery location is beyond seller's delivery coverage for this item. Please choose a different delivery location or purchase from another seller.'

Getting a bit fed up with this really!

On the other hand, my corrosion protection needs are less living here, not being 250m from the sea helps! And I ain't riding nothin' when its road salting time, though I would have to go at least 15km to find a salted road anyway!

ACF and WD 40 it is....

Although it won my test Steve, I wouldn’t say it’s good value for money at that price....

Here you go folks, here’s a little recap of my little experiment over winter..

I cleaned up several empty dog food tins with wire wool and brake cleaner to ensure a clean bare surface, then coated them in a selection of protection sprays and hung them in the garden at the beginning of last November.

I hosed them down once in a while but that was all. So they weren’t subject to road grime and salt etc. It should have been an easy test therefore. But there were still very clear winners and losers. There’s pics attached but I’ll cut to the chase. In reverse order:

In clear last place: Muc Off motorcycle protection spray.
6th place: Mr Sheen (normal household furniture polish, used as it was recommended, & I thought it would be good)
5th place: Home made 50/50 mix of WD40 and ACF50 (interesting as this performed worse than either of them!)
4th place: WD40
3rd place: ACF50, but look at the pics, really not much better than WD40
2nd place: XCP Rust Blocker Clear Coat
1st place: XCP Rust Blocker. But there’s not much difference between this and the clear, but it was still the best.

So there you have it, get yourself some XCP Rust Blocker for next winter.

I have found, Simonize,or like wax, provides the longest lasting rust prevention for firearms, short of Cosmolene.
