Hobot kindly tell us the size of those 3 studs please so that us pre-MK 111 owners can run out to purchase and replace with red Loctite.

There is no difference in the pitch-spiral of Whitworth or SAE only the angle of the saw tooth shape has less slope on Whitworth 55* to SAE 60* so Whitworth is a bit stronger form but either type screws well into Whitworth holes so I just went to autoparts store that have counter front draws full of various studs and such and picked out what looked right and they when right in nice to pretty snug then red lock tight permanent and still in poor Peels cases I will reuse some day. I have suffered a lot with Trixie last year and now d/t my religious sacrafice to Norton honesty to stick strict at can to the good book so had one the regular bolt with its stupid lock tab back out and flood primary at about 20 miles per 2.5 qt so big bad mess to get home from work and decided to take down to the crank and work back up sealing and this time breaking discipline to put permanent stud-plugs in so no oil loss danger stupid factory set us dummies up for. Need to get nuts too if not reusing the risky bolts.

I put the standard bolts in with blue locktite and no lock tabs, never had a problem.
You gain an extra thread with out the tabs and maybe another if you use studs.
They do seem awfully small to me. Maybe yours have been in and out so often that the
threads internal are worn?

In my Trixie case i had them out like 3 xs and blue loctited in plus the tabs just to stick with tradition wondering if I would regret that sneaky place to cheat on the good book. Trixie had a alu head gasket installed so who knows past history before me. I tend to torque over manual with decades of avoiding fastern or thread failure d/t early on failures of over doing it so in Trixie case was not d/t to lack of nip up bravery. Funny thing is right after I just put the old screw back with blue-tite w/o tab washer the kick starter gizmo locked up and had to move engine to check on whole tranny so just kept going to reseal case leaking at hwy speed or hi throttle use but dry otherwise. The car and truck engine blew and SV650 crapped out in between water system failure and storm clearing tree falls etc etc... So far with ATF triplex and clutch had no issues and easy sure operation so no belt plans. Funnest thing is my SuVee now leaks out the shifter shaft but the floor under Trixie dry until some spill opening up.
