What are you guys using to strap the battery in these days?
That original little angle metal piece and the little straps are long gone,(could use those little clips right now.)

Any mothers of invention?

Black rubber bungee cords. Harbor Freight sells different lengths. They come with an 'S' hook on each end. The battery does not move.

1+ carry a few spares just in case... use zip ties. Work great. Cheap.
Pad under to compress a bit to keep the zip force effective on vibration bumps. An anti-acid spill pad under everything ain't a bad iD for liquid cell lead battery.

Automotive battery hold down rods with wing nuts and drilling out two holes on the crossbar (06-1667) Have to shorten the rods and do some threading. There is a hole where the original strap on the battery carrier where the bent angle of the rod can be inserted into.

I use the factory straps and hold down bracket. Except that I've modified the forward strap such that it won't pop out of the hole that it hooks to, and shortened the bracket to be just a bit longer than the battery. These parts are still available.
