Hi chaps - after 4 years of struggling with a single Mk2 Amal 34 mm on my 920 Mk2A I today fitted 2 x new 32mm Amal 932 Carbies and I'm very pleased with the result - it started 2nd Kick (on one cylinder - I'd messed-up one carb - my fault) - I fixed this and then it fired-up easily on both - all of the adjustments were 'by the book' and it just then sat there idling away until I took it for a spin - what an improvement !!! - it even sounds different - my wife said it sounded "deeper" as I went off up the road.
I dare say it will all go-off as they wear out but at present I'm dead chuffed - - .

As I've now filled the space that would have been occupied by the original air filter (crankcase breather flap-valve etc.) I'll need to devise some air filtration soon - - - .

I'm sure that Mk2s are great but I'm not sure that they suit kick-start Commandos.

Time for a beer - - -

Cheers,

Sent my pair to Lund's for a resleeve.
At 10,000 orig. miles the slides were galled.
Got them back with all new internals.
I'll be dead before they wear out again.
Nothing wrong with 932's once resleeved and properly set up.
Kept orig air box with k&n air filter for stock setup
Just cleaned and oiled it.
One less task to fiddle with for a while.
They defintely pull better than stock single carb.

Cheers,

After a lot of time spent sorting twin Mk2's I tend to agree. They're basically a good carb but all that shaking around at low revs plays havoc with fuelling and the different slide types don't all work the same.

I'd go your route with anodised or chrome slides if I was to start over.
