Time to put the rubber on and I found a great deal online for a pair of Avons. Will AVON ROADRIDER AM26 TIRE, 90/90V18 work front and back on my WM2 18" rims?

Likely the best feeling/handling combo as Factory designed chassis to enjoy, just rear eats up so so fast on a 90 szie it al but traditional po boys just moved front to rear to extend economy.

You have 18" rims front and back on your Commando? I would use 110/90v18 rear and 100/90V18 front or better 100/90V19 front. My '72 has 100/90V19 front and back.

david he has WM 2 rim's I would use a 90/90 front and 100/90 rear IMHO th 90/90 is to small for the rear and ANYTHING else is to large for the WM 2 rim.

What I was thinking is the loss in height going to an 18" rim needs compensation with 110/90-18 tire. If using a 100/90V18 tire the speedometer will be inaccurate. Suppose one could figure that out and replace the speedo drive or re-calibrate the speedometer.

I see your thinking but I am sure avon will not recomend that size on a WM 2 as the 100/90 is over size on that rim size.

I also don't think that the 90/90 is rated for rear use anyway. edit I just looked and it IS NOT rated for rear use!!!!!

Sorry if this is a repeat but the last post didn't seem to go through.

So ,.. what I'm hearing is that the 18" rims aren't the correct size for the Commando. This is what I got when I bought the thing (basket case: no rubber). Should I even be putting 18" rims on? I'm leaning toward Bill's advise: 90/90 front and 100/90 rear but the guy at the bike store sounded very surprised.

I would have thought a normal size front and a slightly thicker rear would be correct. I'm not going to do any crazy riding and it's never going to be a show bike. I just want it safe.

Thanks

Bryn
