Atlas Headlamp bracket dimension

Hi all; I'm kinda new at this so hope I don't tread on any toes. My restoration project is a '68 Atlas that had a Suzuki front end, so purchased a complete fork kit from Norvil. On assembly there is a 1/8" plus gap between the fork top crown and the steering stem shoulder nut. I think the headlamp bracket is too long. Does anyone know what the length of the bracket (or the height) should be? Thanks.

Just measured my 650ss (same as Atlas) and I make it 8 inches. However it is difficult to be more precise as there are rubber washers that fit between the bracket and the top yoke (the end of the bracket fits inside the washer). Have you seated the bottom of the brackets correctly on the outside of the lower yoke (there is a lip)?
