Wondering which way the lever on the rear brake drum should point, up or down. With the actuator rod I have it fits well with it pointing up and the rod run on the outside of the rear shock but pictures in Bacons restoration book show it both ways on the featherbed twins. Also not sure if I actually have the correct rod and lever so??

On my Atlas, it points up and the actuator rod is outside of the rear shock. This is original. I am not sure the brake cam would work if the lever were pointed down, as the operation would be reversed (CW rather than CCW).

Mine's the same way. I messed up putting it back together a while back and failed to get it assembled the proper way...I had missed engaging the stud on the brake plate with the recess on the swingarm....ugh.
