I'm at a point to assemble the primary and it strikes me that I should check to be sure...
Is there a guide here so I do it correctly? I hope to not have to disassemble for a do-over! Thank you in advance! (search didn't help this time)
This is not a "reassemble is the reverse of disassemble" as I am bringing a bike back from the dead.

Oh great! Thank you! I should have left that off, wasn't needed as I know you are here.

An additional step or two. Put the inner chaincase on with no shims on the center stud and tighten the three bolts at the front. Look to see if there is a gap between the chaincase and swingarm. If not, use two gaskets at the front and put it back on and tighten the screws. If still no gap, figure out why. If OK, use feeler gauges to determine how thick the shims need to be between the center stud and chaincase. Once you know that, take the chaincase back off, put the shims on and proceed.

In my experience, 750s usually have no need for two gaskets, and 850s usually do need two.

I use a caliper and keep trying combinations of washers until I find the right thickness for the shims.

After that, when your ready to set the inner case, before you tighten the 3 bolts, there will probably be a little rocking movement of the inner case, set it so the center stud is centered in the case.
I also use a dab of case sealant on the 3 case bolts. It's all part of the 'fettling.'

Yes I remember the shimming on the post. Nice to be reminded of a better way to check it. Fettling is just what I'm doing!
I've had the inner on and off at least 20 times!

I put a straight edge against the back of the inner cover to see if it was true, then used the straight edge on the crank case to measure the gap at that centre bolt.
