My hands have become weak. Arthritis in the left and carpel tunnel in the right. Numb fingers. Too many years with a computer mouse and wrist on the desk.

I know I'm not the oldest member here - those of you with arthritis, is there anything that actually works to give relief?

I'm having a thumb fixed this winter. Cartilage gone from both sides of a small round bone between the thumb and wrist. They harvest a small piece of tendon from the shoulder, wad it up in a ball and replace the little bone. The other thumb isn't far behind, with cartilage gone on one side of the same bone. Osteoarthritis in the back and both knees also. Neuropathy (numbness) in both feet from nerve damage. Old age is not for sissies. Told the ortho guy who fixed my smashed collarbone last year I didn't use much of the pain meds he prescribed because I use the pain to tell me what not to do. In truth, oxy doesn't mix well with beer. 35 years as a working carpenter pretty much wore out everything although I've had a lot less trouble than a lot of my friends.

Yup , 30 years laying pipe and maintenance of water/sewer through construction season in our small Town, then working in woods with chain saw in winter pretty much torched my body .... along with the lingering sports injuries from hockey , football and rugby .... I feel/know your pain .... I spend first hour or more each morning drinking coffee looking at paper before I ready to start moving .... unless I’m heading out for a bike ride , then it’s called grin and love it !!!!

Dunno if it will help with arthritis, but I have a 1 hour session with a medical masseuse every two weeks. Those sessions have eliminated pains that were diagnosed as gout (which i knew were not), and my wife has had pains eliminated that were diagnosed as Carpal Tunnel.

CBD oil has many beneficial effects .... pain relief, better sleep, lower blood pressure, stress relief.

Sometimes, the best thing you can do for yourself is stay away from the medical establishment.

Slick

Got some CBD oil for B-day couple wks ago , guess I will try some and see what happens .... sounds kinda magic like .....

My former career was in the biopharmaceutical industry and my company developed one of the new generation biologic therapies for arthritis. Trade name is Enbrel but there are now other biologics out targeting similar pathways such as Remicade. You should ask your Doc about these new treatments to see if they can help slow progression and relieve inflammation.

not so much getting on the bike its getting off it after a ride with low bars and rearsets an overhead crane would be great!,you tend to develop expert trials balance riding in town, you dread every stop getting your feet back on the pegs
with locked up knees aint good
in the mornings im like an old crow hanging around on the power line waiting for the sun to come up and bring me up to working tempreature

All very real Desmo , stopping difficult as natural path for my feet go in front of pegs , takes effort to put ‘em behind pegs ...

We got our last dog something called Yumove by Lintbell when he started to look a bit stiff with old age. After a couple of weeks, Georgina started to say she was going to have to start taking it herself because she was struggling to keep up with the dog.

After a bit of research, she found that people had started taking Yumove and noticed an improvement. Lintbell took note and brought out a version for humans called IMove.

We tried it and I thought it helped my hands after a couple of weeks. Not had any for a while as neither of us are that bad but might be worth a try.

And that is a good combination as well apparently. Do you feel it is doing anything to help?

Yes, I was getting constant pain in my left wrist which got worse using a clutch or using a spanner etc, took a month for it to kick in but not just the odd tinge.

I took CBD oil for two months twice a day. I think it calmed me down a bit but I noticed no pain relief of my
osteoarthritis (lower spine, shoulders, hips, neck, 3 fingers.

CBD oil, like all cannibinoids, settles in the fatty tissue. If you (ahem) carry extra weight, it has more areas to settle and slowly metabolize, bringing some lubrication to your moving parts. The lower your percentage of body fat, (and the higher your metabolism) the less the apparent positive effect.

Old guy I worked with used “WD-40” on his stiff joints , claimed it worked ... sometimes it ends up on my crooked fingers and I notice no improvement , have not tried it on the major joints ie: knees, hips , shoulders , might be better than surgery which I have undergone for little releif , hips still untouched and sore ... we will see ‘bout this CBD sooner ....

Well I've been using fish oil. Maybe it works, not totally sure but I'm still climbing up and down from H-60's although it is getting harder now that I'm 57.
