Anzac Day

Well this day of year we have our remembrance day for our WW1 landing at Anzac Cove at Gallipoli, we have a Dawn service for the time they landed on the beach and then a later service at 9am, all the old diggers of all war conflicts have their march, a few drinks after with their mates and of course a few two up games, its a big day for our diggers but this year everything has been canceled because of this virus, no march, no reunions with your mates, no two up games, but it didn't stop us from remembering them and the ones that care stood out the front of their driveways at 6am with a lit candle to remember all our fallen heroes of all our armed services.
It was good to see so many neighbors out to remember them, but it was so disappointing with the neighbors who don't care, well its just after 7:30am might be a bit early to crack open a beer but I think I have some breaky first then have a few beers.

My Grandad was a Gallipoli Digger was there for 6 weeks before getting wounded, then shipped off to England to recover, then he was sent to France where he suffered mustard gas, he past away in 1958, 3 months before I was born, my dad was in the Merchant Navy during WW2 and my oldest brother was in the RAN late 60s, so Anzac day is very important to me," Lest We Forget "

I was born 7 days before Pearl Harbour. Most of my early childhood was spent waiting for my father to come home - and he did. But my play-mates' father from across the road did not. I think he was a POW in Thailand. The message came through just after the war ended. Those kids went inside their house and stayed there for two weeks.
Democracy is the only thing on this planet which is really worth fighting for. The right to be yourself and determine your own future. War is shit and 'shit happens'.
