These jokers sent Keystone rings fitted into a set of pistons with square lands.

They sorted it alright.

It appears they know more than all the 2-stroke engineers, designers and racers for the last 60 years combined.

Oh, HELL NO.

Learn sumthin every day !

Never heard of keystone rings before. Whats the idea behind them, ie what’s the benefit over normal rings ?

I assume the ring lands should be a matching keystone shape? What’s you gonna do with yours now?

Combustion gas presses on the taper, pushing the ring against the cylinder wall for better sealing. Been around the 50 years I've been working on 2-strokes.
OEM on Zook, Yam.
(Dykes rings too)
YES, the land profile must match the ring profile.

Good news! The seller responded, with some childish nonsense.
And, in the process tipped their hand that they are slippery hucksters.

OF COURSE I WANT A "SMOOTH RIDE"!!! Why else would I buy new pistons & rings?

Gases push the rings against the wall with ‘normal’ rings tho. So in what way are the keystone rings better?

But more to the point, what are you gonna do with these miss-matched pistons and rings that you now have ?

Tapered rings will surely hammer the f**k out of those none compatible ring lands …

I’ve been Googling and apparently those rings have been used as the top ring in diesels and don’t readily stick in the (matching shaped) groove.

I didn't design or build the Keystone rings.
There is plenty to read on the topic.

The slippery snakes made no mention of this garbage on their website.

Another $500 in the scrap metal dumpster.

How did you pay? Any protection there? Goods are unfit for purpose so you should have some recourse one would hope?

Chester? Where is that? Can we drive there? Really shitty looking cast piston let alone ring fit!

That is exactly right.

To be clear, I would have no hesitation installing keystone rings with matching pistons. Used them many times.
