Like many others I converted the cradle tube swinging arm locating bolt to a quill
With a rubber tube connected and a small resivoir for the oil under the seat
My lack of maintenance and riding on salted roads had rusted the pin previously
Now all I have to do is open the seat and top up when I think of it
I did the same thing to both my commandos. 30 ml bottle filled with 90 oil. It does leak out over about a year, but you cant expect those o rings to hold oil they way the bikes designed. Nothing simpler.

Yes, the design never seemed like it was meant to prevent oil loss, just slow down some. Seems all that is needed is some oil penetration into the oillite bushings once a season to be good to go.
