Any UK riders heard of ULEZ

"ULEZ Vehicle checker"
https://tfl.gov.uk/modes/driving/ultra-low-emission-zone/vrm-checker-ulez

I checked my Commando which is registered as 'Historic' not that I'm ever likely to ride it within the zone.

"XXX XXXX

Black NORTON

You are currently exempt from the ULEZ.

Your vehicle does not meet the emission standards for ULEZ*. However, as of June 2017, its tax class means that it is exempt from the ULEZ.

However, from 8 April 2019, you may be charged to travel in the ULEZ if:

  • Your tax class has changed since June 2017, or
  • Your tax class changes in the future"

Edit:"June 2017"? o_O

Should be 1st April 2017 (when my Commando qualified and was registered as Historic tax class).

Thanks LAB - I saw the 2007 date for bikes and did not bother to check the historic classification.

I'm sure this is the thin edge of a mighty wedge
It won't just be London that's hit by this tax it will spread to other cities
If you own a car or motorcycle you are an easy target we all know that!!!, I know quite a few people that are going to be really hard hit by this
People won't be able to visit relatives or do there usual shopping etc
Don't think this is an exaggeration because it's not
There are plenty of people just about keeping their heads above water they can not afford a new car so they will have to pay the £12 50 a day,
Or get a bus/cycle/walk etc which sounds lovely but in the real world there are not that many people that will do that, if there was they would already be doing it
So your 2006 125cc bike will cost you £12.50 a day into London and a 1972 Suzuki gt750 will cost
nothing!!
Also as stated our Norton's will cost nothing , I believe in France once a vehicle becomes a classic you can no longer commute with it??
