Any ideas for bending back the rear brake backing plate? I don’t have a lathe but have a good vise if that helps. I can see when spinning it on the drum(off the bike),you can see the clearance varies.I have 1/8” run out difference.
Thanks,
Mike

Do you have access to an arbor press ?

Assuming pre-MKIII...

They all do that to some extent. How much variance are you seeing?

Usually when fully assembled without a brake plate packing washer (06.7603) the drum will touch the backing plate at some point when turning. With one it should not. It is possible to use more than one, but I've never done that.

I have those precision instruments but not sure how you want me to use them.
are you SURE the backing plate is bent, or merely an illusion (with the method you mentioned above) because it's a stamped part, with uneven trimmed labyrinth edges?

Support the plate with wood blocks, figure out which way the mounting hole in the middle needs to go, use the alloy drift & clobber the bitch on one edge, re-check, etc
