Not mine..but looks like the seat
I was looking at this again, and not sure what to make of it. One thing is that it seems like it wouldn’t rub the paint off the tank. I have heard that the Corbin does. Not sure if that is true, or not.

The corbin will eventually mark the tank slightly but its only seen when the seat is off...and a cut n polish will remove it if you have a quality clear coat applied to the tank...you could always stick a piece of clear paint protector vinyl film in the area where the seat makes contact with the tank...

James,
I have run Corbin seats forever and they don’t rub the paint off the tanks. I even have a strap for my tank bag and still have clearance. You usually have some wiggle room when mounting the tank.

I've only seen them with Roadster tanks, I'm too lazy to stop for petrol that often, so am looking for something that looks right with an Interstate tank, do you use a Corbin on an Interstate?

I have a single interstate seat with the hump mounted on my Wideline Featherbed and is a very comfortable seat, I brought it from Burtons British Bikes 15 years ago, I just had to change the mounting brackets to fit the Featherbed frame, he has a big selection of seats for Commando's but then it's been awhile since I been on his site, I ordered it on a Thursday night and was here on Tuesday too Australia, not bad I also ordered a new seat cover for my interstate seat at the same time.

Thanks YING, that looks really good, and you have the std footrests on there, which I'd want to keep on mine. Do you find the seat comfortable?

I have had the seat on for about 4 years and am very comfortable with it. I am a short man and it fits me well.Taken on 300 mile days with no problem.

I'm pretty sure Corbin no longer make an Interstate seat of any kind unfortunately.
Correct. The way to do it is buy one, hack it down and recover.

Not sure if he still does, but Matt at cNw did mine, I had to send him the tank, he supplied and modified the seat, and did a typically fabulous job of it too.

Just to confirm, the Corbin you are using in conjunction with the Interstate tank is not the Gunfighter, but the Smuggler model without the rear trunk?
That seat is a Gunfighter base cut short and then sent back to Corbin for covering.Matt at CNW did that for me.

I believe the issue with corbin is the variability in interstate tank lengths.
I had mine fitted with a corbin (gunfighter) from Matt but have since fitted a new tank without problem.
I use 2mm self adhesive rubber as barrier between seat and tank.
Cheers

I wonder if its hard to make it look right? Anyone know the origin of this seat design?

Mick Hemmings stocked them but had them made by person's unknown, MH supplied them to Old Britts.

I have recovered lots of seats, warmth is your friend, either direct sunlight or a hairdryer.
