While I’m keeping my Commando, and hope to add something else in the space left for now, today part of my history has left the building. Old age and a degree of infirmity have made the decision for me

Both my 2015 ZZR1400PS (ZX14R) and 1999 Hayabusa have departed. I’ve realised they’re not being used as they should, and the icing on the cake was dropping the ZZR onto the ‘Busa in my garage. Luckily no damage.
I’ve had 3 x ZZR and 5 Busas in my time, stock, nitrous, big bore and turbos when I was sprinting, drag racing and top speed events over the past 20 odd years. Setting several records in the time too. Farewell to these 2 although the Busa can return if I wish. I’d prefer to keep it as it is possibly the oldest in the UK first registered 1st April 1999 the day they came out.

Memories only of times like these
An end of an era for me
An end of an era for me
An end of an era for me
An end of an era for me
An end of an era for me

You are so right ! End of an era , the need for speed can really take hold , good you knew it was time to step back and think on things for a bit , no one can take away your memories, or your accomplishments while you worshipped at the Altar of Speed !

I empathise with your feelings. I havnt sold my old race bike but doubt I will compete it again.

But I have moved to a new area of interest. Adventure rides with a couple of old friends. I have a lightweight bike and each year we do at least two NZ South Island trips on the backroads and mountain passes.

I am happy with my Hot Norton and my Triumph Thurxton 1200S both are quick enough for me, its the torque for me not the speed.

It happens. I have been in a constant state of motorcycle evaluation of the past few years. Bikes that I thought were all but indispensable have gone to new owners, namely my Honda 5th Gen VFR. In reality the seating position was painful for my knees. I am riding less and not going as far when I do ride. I am just slowing down.
