Take the bowl off, put your fingernail on the pivot pin and turn the bowl upside down. The float must not protrude more than a tiny bit below the edge of the bowl. This is always my final check after setting the float/fuel height. the point is that it not hit the bottom of the carb.  While there, make sure that the roll pin of hte tickler is not protruding below the edge of the carb body.
