Alton on a MK2A 850 with full plastic OEM airbox?

Or the metal 'ham can'. I think they suggest the K&N setup. There is/was a western Australia firm making a smaller ham can that worked with the CNW starter, but I've lost their website info.

Shortened hamcan with CNW starter. Homemade. But sorry on a Mk 11

It's not too difficult.

Make a wooden former matching the normal lower half of the standard plate.

Then carefully cut an original front plate so you have enough material to shape around the former.

Then shape and braze the modified plate and work to the correct shape on the former.

The perforated cover is very easy to shorten and rebend.

As you can see in the photo it is also necessary to modify the bolt mount a bit to avoid the main switch.

I used a standard airfilter cut and reglued.

We did a rough calculation of surface area of the filter and compared it to car and other machines and concluded it would be big enough.

But I haven't done enough miles yet to conform carb settings and high end performance
