I did most of the early test riding on the Stormer, but I emigrated to Boeing around Easter 1968, just about the time it went on the market. I've never seen one anywhere in the US I've travelled to. Was the type ever exported here? I've never seen a dealership with an "AJS" sign in the window in the US either.

I did get the heave-ho from Boeing in its massive shrinkage in 1971 and spent three years at a NASA facility in Virginia before getting back in again.

Any information on the Stormer's history would be welcome. my e-mail is "dampshop@comcast.net".

They were imported to the States. A friend has a 250 & used to race it in AHRMA. I also know someone who used to be a dealer and I believe he still has 1 or more that were never sold. I will forward your information to them.

There was a nice article on the Stormer in one of the recent issues of the AJS/Matchless Owners Club Jampot magazine. Will see if I can find it and will send it to you.

Frank.. sent out today. I re-read the article and it is mainly about the new AJS dirt bikes. But it does describe the origins of the reborn AJS brand from the 70s onward.

There is one being raced regularly in the AHRMA off-road series. I spoke briefly to the esteemed old gent on the Stormer and tried to get him to come here, but he claims to be "not computer-savvy" I did hear some complaints from him regarding parts availability. When I get pic-posting figured out on this new machine, I'll post a couple of shots.

Your very welcome, I love the idea of the Baja 1000 mile Enduro, you guy's know how to have fun out there, please share the link, it's such a great story, an idea that gets picked up and developed by one person, then another follows and takes it a step further, and each time we end up with a better machine, thanks for the feed back, it took several years to compile, and then a year to put it on the web, best wishes Cliff
