I will be installing the CNW E-start conversion on either a 1970 Commando Fastback or a !971 Commando Roadster. I want to avoid lithium ion batteries.
Can anyone tell me whether they have found an agm battery of suitable amperage and fit to the battery trayy to work with the CNW conversion for either of these Commando models.
If so, can you supply make and type designation.

Thanks,
Ed

Thank you Dave and Concours,
To answer Concours question, both bikes have the side oil tank. Thank you both for the battery links. I will need to take measurements but, at the moment, I'm not where the bikes are.
Do you know whether either of the recommended batteries have been used in pre-1973 Commandos?

Thanks,
Ed

I have an ETX15L in my '72. Would be surprised if you could go bigger yet.

Don't know if you could fit an ETX20 in a pre-Mk3. I never tried. An ETX15 is just right - a little taller than stock battery. I think you will just need to measure the space and compare with the catalog data.

The ETX20 is just shy of 7" long. It'll fit if you don't have stuff attached to the back of the air filter plate. It's what the Alton e-start kit recommends and CnW says it's OK too.
