Aftermarket sports exhaust

Well, I just made a short comparison. 4 parts in the clip.
Starting with the stock exhaust and cat. Then I removed the exhausts, but left the cat. The third part is with the decat pipe fitted, and the last part is with the decat pipe and the short exhausts. All from Norton.
It's a 2017 Sport, Euro4.

Well yes, the sound itself is the nicest with cats and no backboxes, but trust me... it's is very loud. Just went for a quick spin, and with the decat and shorties, it's ...let us say... not discreet anymore. Hilarious... I had no MIL, and am running on the stock lambda's and mapping. That's the next thing for me : lambda delete and the mapping for "aftermarket exhausts" from Norton..

Decat + shorties + remap is the best long term. My last H-D sounded a lot like #3 and that was not a nice sound to live with on the open road!

Can I ask why you would want to be discreet riding around on a Norton???

To the OP, If you are going to hand carry your ECU to a dealership for re-map they will have to have an appropriately configured donor bike to do the re-map!

Sorry, been away for a few days testing out the decat and shorties. Clocked up 1500km I think that's about 1000 miles.
No ECU remap. All on country B roads. Bike ran superb except after last fuel stop wouldn't idle and died at a stop sign. Stopped and reset idle sensor then fine.
At the moment I have kept the 02 sensors but have ordered the eliminators and will install same.

The decat pipe and shorties have made the single biggest improvement in the bikes performance. It barks like it should. Very crisp throttle response and heaps more, smoother power.

Be sure to torque head at 1000 miles. Sorry, i don’t recall if you did already.

Richard the factory 1st service on mine said the head was torqued, that was around the 600 mile mark. Does it need doing again at the 1k marker?

As I found the combo decat-shorties a bit too loud and raspy, I refitted the cat. Deep dark sound, still loud but less than with the decat. And most of all, the bike ran better. Less notchy on re-accelleration. Mine is a Euro4, still with the lambda's fitted. No remap yet, as my dealer is struggling with it...

I'm going to the factory with the ECU so I'm guessing that will be fine.

I have to agree de cat pipe and shorties IS pretty damn loud. I love it though- not sure how long until my neighbors complain...

It's all relative. On my last 961 ride I thought the de-cat/shorties were a bit quiet. Certainly quieter than my other bikes. My current loudest bike is an Aprilia Tuono V-4 1100 Factory with SC-Project pipe. It's a toss up for loudest with one of my former bikes - MV Agusta F4-1000 312R with Bodis exhaust. Where I live, there's little interest in policing loud exhaust of street bikes. Certain tracks do enforce noise limits on track days though.
