I'm looking for an aftermarket exhaust system for the Norton 961. They have one listed here in the USA but at $2,000.00 plus shipping it's prohibitively expensive. Anyone know where to find a more reasonably priced exhaust system for these? Thanks.

I have the 2 grand system with the catless X pipe. Love them. Not loud but a real deep roar with that ever so musical back pressure.

there aren’t enough bikes around for anybody to build a set off of. can’t do a pipe without a donor bike...

The Southbay silencers were $1295 you don't need the catless x pipe!
I know, but for me I'd just have to have both. I'm a little bruised about the price. It's not that I can't afford it, its just that it seems overpriced. There are other exhaust systems out there for other kinds of bikes that cost about as much but they are normally full exhaust systems. The Ducati set ups come with the new computer module. I'm thinking I will have to get the bike dyno'ed and put on a Dynojet aftermarket module as well to get it tuned right. So you are looking at another $600.00+ bucks for the proper install.

Hi,

I bought the $1300 stainless pipes from South Bay Cycle and they were worth it. They sound better, look better, and are lighter. I have had Ducatis with the Staintune exhaust and this is very comparable in price and quality, so suck it up, that is the going price for quality stuff.
I am in the SF Bay area, so if you want to see/hear this system let me know, I would be happy to meet up.

Pricing is relative, I have a Termi exhaust on my Duc 998 super bike, new retail they are $2500 with the ECU, however my local dealer
MotoCorsa in Portland runs sales on NOS sets and you can step into a Stainless Termi set for under $1000.
I have multiple Buells and have several exhausts, All stainless, and paid a fraction of that. One of the best ever made in the Buell exh shootout is the Micron exhaust. Hydro formed pipes and stainless can. Sounds great and dyno proven to give the best performance out there.
backa few years ago they were about $1500 for the complete kit. But i paid $400 for each set i have. I also have a "Free Spirits" polished reverse can Stainless system, a work of art in gleaming stainless. Unbelievable,, I paid $1000 for the complete kit. Its going on my XB12SCG project. theres a guy on the Buell XB forum building very nice hand built and dyno proven Stainless systems for both the XB series and the later Buells run you about $1200 from the cyl head to the tip of the muffler,, be interesting what he could do for a Norton as the Buells are far more complicated.
Here read up what the Buell guys say,,,,http://www.buellxb.com/Buell-XB-Forum/General-Motorcycle-Chat/the-big-buell-exhausts-topic
thats just one of MANY posts on this topic, but $2000? You can get a full titanium system for a Buell.
Keep in mind the Buells run EFI/ECM and tons of guys doing their own tuning, fuel maps and tweaking their systems. All you need is a laptop or a handheld smart phone and you too can tune at will. Someday the Nortons will be there as well.
I have promising leads on some highly recomended guys here locally who can make exhausts for anything out of Stainless and one of them built multiple exhausts systems already for the Norton America bikes and a local multi brand race team.

Personally i would NEVER pay anyone $2000 for an exhaust.

It seems Norton is selling the factory sport pipes in Canada as of Mid-June, maybe the Us will be Next. Sounds like they supply a re-map also!

aftermarket pipes are at SBNT as of 8 months ago. even have big bore kits developed for it, long before the bikes were here. billet barrels....

I had the "louder" factory pipes put on my bike a short time ago. The ones I got looked exactly the same as the stock pipes except the exit hole was a larger diameter. A remap was included. The bike now has a bit more bark and sounds like a Norton should. Performance is about the same, except the idle is a bit smoother. I assume these pipes are available in the US now because they have been available in Canada for some time now.

Again, price is relative, just bought a Stainless 2>1 supertrapp exhaust system for my wifes sporty off of Craigslist. paid $80, super good deal as they retail for $800 plus shipping. But even the retail $800 seems like a bargain compared to what these places think their exhausts are worth for the Nortons, everything is relative and economies of scale of course. But id buy the pipe bender and mandrels and start making them myself before id pay what these dealerships are asking.
