At my age, I usually know pretty much how other people will behave. I am not religious, but I have always had faith in my fellow man and woman.
I found this video interesting. I was close to the collapse of the Westgate Bridge in Melbourne in 1972, when 38 men lost their lives, and I thought that was bad.

Several of the guys in the video who were fighting the fire on the Franklin said they were not afraid while the disaster was happening. To me the whole situation was absolutely appalling. There must have benn hundreds of ways of dying on that ship. I think that fear creates the adrenalin rush which changes the way we think in extreme circumstances. Personally, I have never believed in bravery. I think people do what they must do and the adrenalin helps them.
Some people believe you need balls to go racing. I don't believe that. The only time it is dangerous is when you first start. Adrenalin can also help you to make mistakes. Being brave might be a mistake.

Dale Earnhart's family would probably disagree.
Motor racing takes balls, and it is dangerous. There have been great advancements in safety/survivability, but nonetheless, shit can go horribly wrong.
MOST people in our society have no interest in taking those chances. They watch baseball & collect stamps.

Here’s a young lady who would deny you need balls to race, the lovely Becci Ellis

Once you get past your 'crash and burn' stage, motorcycle road racing is safe. I would rather do it than drive my car in city traffic. If you ever try road racing, when you begin - force yourself to go slow until you learn what you are doing. If I don't race for years, then go racing again - it takes me 5 laps to get up to 90% of race speed - the rest takes two races. A good bike makes a good rider.
