Aaaand if you were looking at buying that well made Thruxton

Re: Aaaand if you were looking at buying that well made Thru

Read it carefully. Other than the ranting and screaming the only actual complaint is a bolt missing from the gear lever!
His statement that Triumph will void his warranty if he replaces the bolt is ridiculous. Seems that he gave the dealer some attitude, got some back and has now gone on the warpath over a gear lever bolt.
He also complains of "having been made to wait 6-12 months for parts" but has only owned the bike for 3 months.

Total Nutter.

Good points. Well put.

Re: Aaaand if you were looking at buying that well made Thru

I actually know someone who has experienced a very similar problem with his Thruxton R.
While this has occurred, I doubt that the problem is widespread.
Triumph has admitted to supply issues on the new 900/1200 line.

This guy is probably someone who has never owned anything but Jap bikes in his like.
He obviously betrays this in his words:

THREE KEY WORDS IN MOTORCYCLE OWNERSHIP........JAPANESE FOUR CYLINDER

Clearly, this person has a preconception of what motorcycle ownership should be like.
While the new Triumph brand is clearly top notch, in a sense they have a ways to go to match the Japanese big 4, especially with respect to warranty coverage.
Also, one has to expect that in the first model year of a new model there will be issues and possible parts shortages.

Bottom line here is that if you are a Jap bike devotee (nothing wrong with that, I have been too) and then decide that you want to buy a Triumph because it has a great really cool classic look, which no current Japanese model can match, you need to understand that you could be taking a risk with a new, to you, non-Japanese brand.

Also, if during your phone conversations with the dealership, employees mockingly laugh at your predicament, it’s time to kick that dealer to the curb, and find a new one ASAP.

Note how many bids it has, reverse psychology perhaps??

Re: Aaaand if you were looking at buying that well made Thru

He spends quite a bit of effort to mock the type of person who would buy any Retro bike, however he obviously bought into the idea three months ago, retro Triumph clothing and all.

Re: Aaaand if you were looking at buying that well made Thru

What a friggen wanker this guy must be can't replace a bolt thinking he will lose his warrenty, what BS is coming out of his mouth or is he hoping the price will go up as there seems to be a few other wankers feeling sorry for him and maybe they will bid a good price for him, I did all my own servicing on my 2013 Thruxton and didn't have any problems with claiming one warrenty jod (oil cooler senser) and for a workshop not to have a kit full of mertic bolts in stock be hard to believe, they don't take parts off another bike to fix another bike.

If you give attitude you will get attitude back and complaining about a missing or broken bolt from the gear lever and making a big secne out of it, then of course you will get some mocking from the workshop crew and staff, but not every bike that comes from any brand or factory will be perffect and sometimes a lemon will get through the final inspection, it happens with anything that is man made mistakes do happen.

There are also some bad shops around who will take your money and not give much in return, but thats a easy fix, go to another dealer that will help, the warrenty is covered at any dealers, then when someone from Triumph Australia is willing to call him to help him out he attacts him, so whats problem, maybe he has grown up his whole life with a attitude problem or a chip on his shoulders, you can never change these peoples attitude, I hate to be in his family, if he has kids they will also grow with attitude and he calls everyone else a knuckle head he must be looking in the mirror when he said that

He is not a dickhead, he's a penis with ears.

I actually thought it was a Joke when I read it. In our internet age with just a few keystrokes your words could be read around the world . Some people get a bigger thrill tearing things down than building them up . After reading it again , I think the owner is very strange individual .

Re: Aaaand if you were looking at buying that well made Thru

Sounds to me like he is calling HIMSELF an idiot / poser / moron...

(but also sounds like the dealer is not top shelf)

I've heard ZERO stories of problem Thruxtons, mainly because the forums I'm on are for actual RIDERS who know bikes, and know how to install a bolt without voiding a warranty, not doofus hipsters.

Re: Aaaand if you were looking at buying that well made Thru

It just appears that the complainant is totally irrational.
His bike is fixed now, no need to sell it.

1. The dealer scavenged the part(s) from another bike on in the showroom.
2. The bike in the showroom will remain there until the replacement part(s) are received. Who does this harm? Who cares!
3. Don’t worry about which part might break on the bike next. If you are inclined to think this way, do not ride motorcycles.
4. Get the bike away from this dealer now.
5. Find a new dealer.
6. Enjoy the R, and live a good life.

Case closed.
